Louis shook the box in his hands, hoping that the bumbling sound coming from it would tell him what was in it. "No cheating mate!" Zayn slapped the boy's hand, smiling. Louis couldn't help but wear a smile. He was having his 21rst birthday with the people he loved. In the corner was Niall and Liam, they were talking but Louis didn't care much about what they were talking about. In another corner was Harry chatting with Louis's oldest sister. Louis grunted in frustration and rolled his eyes at his friend's fooish attempt to woo his sister. Louis would punch Harry in the throat before he let him date his sister. Louis knew what happened when girls "got" with Harry. And Louis didn't want that to happen to his sisters. None of them. Especially not his best friend. And next to him, smiling his white smile at him, was Zayn. "Fine. I'll wait until my mum gets here." Louis pouted, handing the present over to Zayn. Zyan took it in his hand and tossed it with the other presents people had gathered to give Louis. Niall and Liam walked over and sat on both sides of Louis on the couch. They both had drinks in their hands. Niall was drinking alcohol, he could tell. Liam's drink was unidentifiable, but there was a very slim chance it was anything alcoholic. "Hey Lou. Happy 21rst! Want a sip?" Niall laughed. Louis could smell the alcohol come from his breath when he talked to him. Niall was halfway drunk already and the party hadn't even started yet. "Nah, I'm good lad. More for you." Louis pushed the drink away from him as Niall shrigged and tilted his head back, finished the drink. Liam sipped slowly at his own drink. Louis didn't question what he had, but it didn't really matter. He was only waiting for his mum to get to the party. She wouldn't miss her little boy's 21rst birthday. Louis faded out Niall's biligerent laughing and Liam's slight sipping and pulled out his phone. He dialed his mum's number as he stood from the couch. "I'll be back mates." Louis said, retreating to the kitchen to be alone. He put the phone to his ear and it rang and rang. "Hello?" he heard his mom through the phone. "Mum. So glad to hear you. Are you close to the house? We aren't gonna start without you mum." Louis said into the phone in a low voice, not to disturb anyone else. Him and his mum talked for a minute or two before they hung up and Louis went back into the room with all the talking and Niall's laughing. Harry walked up to him. "Lou, I got your cake man. Where's your mum?" Harry asked, sipping at his own drink. "She'll be here in a minute, I just had her on the phone." Louis sighed, as he waited for his mom. It was at least an hour before there was a faint knock at the door. Louis got up and opened the door slowly. He had been low in hopes of his mom getting here. But once he looked up, he saw his mother standing there. "Mum!" Louis exclaimed, wrapping her into a big hug. "Happy birthday Louis." she muttered. They brought her into the house and Louis blew out the candles. His 21rst, was definatly his best.
